While I'm still learning - understanding the 3 basic body movements helped me figure out what my body is doing, why it's doing it, where i'm mobile vs not, and how to break down poses.


Like a murder map, once you acquire enough evidence, you're able to connect the dots and piece together what your body needs to get into a pose. Sort of reminds me of a creating a recipe. Depending on how you mix and match and to what intensity, you either get into a different variation of a pose, a modification, or a totally different pose!


Here are the top 3 concepts that helped me.

1/ Flexion vs Extension

2/ Abduction vs Adduction

3/ Internal rotation vs External rotation
